Marriage Retreats usually refer to learning experiences where a couple spends at least one overnight period together as part of the "retreat." Such retreats can be great opportunities to get away from the cares of the world and just focus on one's marriage. Marriage retreats are the kind of "getaways" that allow couples to spend time on learning more about each other and how to improve their relationship.
"Dr. Robertson does not believe that such 'tearing down in order to rebuild' approaches are necessary to creating a great marriage."
But all marriage retreats are NOT the same! Some marriage retreats spend more time trying to get the participants to open up and disclose their deepest feelings. They believe that you should explore the rules that govern your personality, and find ways to overcome those aspects of yourself that get in the way of you relating well to your spouse (or anyone else for that matter). These approaches believe that only by confronting your "real self" (rather than the one that you normally display to others), will you be able to make real changes. Because this takes more time, at least two days or more days may be required.
"Magnify Your Marriage" Retreats
"Magnify Your Marriage" recognizes the power of such marriage retreat approaches. They can lead to great insight and new learning experiences. However, these approaches are often combined with techniques and procedures that can be dangerous to the emotional well-being of certain individuals. In addition, Dr. Robertson does not believe that such "tearing down in order to rebuild" approaches are necessary to creating a great marriage. There are simpler ways which are much more effective. Magnify Your Marriage Latter-Day Saint retreats simply take Dr. Robertson's seminars and spread them out over a couple days, making the LDS marriage retreat experience relaxing and even more pampering fun! There's no need for disclosure, humiliation, or embarrassment.
Come join the pampering fun!
